KANSAS CITY WEEKEND EVENTS | September 7th, 8th & 9th

Your guide to local Kansas City Weekend Events is back!  I have something to admit…I am a fair weather Kansas Citian.  If there is cold weather or hot weather…I’m out.  I have no interest in freezing or sweating.  September and October are my favorite Months.  Usually, that list also includes April and May; however, we had NO SPRING this year.

Now that the weather is tame (I will take rain over 90 degrees or snow any day), here is your list of weekend events for this first weekend in September.  Get out and do something fun!

Living With Intention | My Favorite Musings

I am going to slightly change the format of the blog.  I am hoping to make more daily posts, sharing my musings from my everyday life, no matter how big or how small, or random.

My goal for September is to journal more.  Why not share some of those thoughts here?  I hope to focus on gratitude, stating clear intentions, and emotional release.  Hopefully, some of these thoughts will inspire you as well.  This post contains affiliate links.  I love to share my favorite finds, and all opinions are always mine.

I also hope to post more often to Instagram. This is probably the most enjoyable part about blogging.  On Sunday, I posted about the moon phases.  Each month, Moon Body Soul posts a beautiful moon phase image.  (They also feature very pretty crystals and bath products I lust over quite often - and I don’t even take baths.)  I also use a free app called The Moon to track the phases each day.

Within the last couple of years, I have noticed a difference in my energy and focus as related to the moon phases.  Let’s just say, my house is always clean around a full moon.  I accomplish more in the days leading up to a full moon than I do all other days combined.  It’s an amazing thing.  In my research, I came across this book by Ezzie Spencer.  She is an expert on the phases of the moon phases and how it relates to our energy and intentions.  I enjoy following her on Instagram, and finally decided to order the book, Lunar Abundance, after holding out for months.  I can’t wait to review it for you…or, order yours and follow along on this journey with me!

So, here is to being more intentional!  I know this is such a buzz phrase for 2018, but it is so worthwhile.  Often, I have found myself wondering "what if."  Now is the time to decide which of those "what ifs" I want to focus on and nurture them to fruition.

DIY Natural Makeup Remover | My Favorite Things

DIY Natural Makeup Remover | My Favorite Things

I had started to notice constant black circles under my eyes from my mascara.  No matter how much I washed (and reluctantly scrubbed), it seemed to always be there.  I mentioned to a friend this was happening and asked what she used.  Then realized, I have stuff to make my own natural eye makeup remover at home!  This post contains affiliate links.  I love to share my favorite finds, and all opinions are always mine.

I immediately came home, did some internet research, and whipped up a batch of this natural makeup remover!  I had all of the ingredients at home.  It works great, is moisturizing…and smells fantastic!

DIY Natural Makeup Remover

I used equal parts of each of these ingredients (one-third each):

Rose Water

Place in glass spray bottle and…Viola!  Your own DIY natural makeup remover.  Make sure you shake before each use to mix the ingredients.  You may notice an immediate breakout when changing up your cleansing routine.  In the long run, it will be worth it.  I immediately noticed the dirt and oil clogging my pores coming to the surface.  I also noticed a new glow to my skin.

You may substitute distilled water (or boil water and let it cool) in place of the rose water.  This will also reduce the cost of this already inexpensive makeup remover.  It always seems costly to make your own natural cosmetics upfront, but there are so many other ways that you can use these ingredients.  I use the rose water as a toner after I cleanse and exfoliate, and to spray on top of my makeup for that fresh look.  I have also created my own anti-aging serum using the jojoba oil (look for a future post containing this recipe).  Both of these products have so many benefits for your skin!

I was using regular disposable cotton rounds to clean my face, then noticed exactly how many I was using (and how wasteful this seemed).  I immediately headed to Amazon and ordered some reusable makeup remover pads. This also prompted me to think about all of the other wasteful everyday things I need to replace with reusable items.  I filled my Amazon wishlist and can’t wait to share that with you next week!

Quick Links to Ingredients:

I can't wait to hear about how much you love your new DIY natural makeup remover!
