Kansas City Rescue Mission | Kansas City Causes

There are so many great nonprofits that serve so many across Kansas City.  I have decided to add a Causes category to my blog.  I am sure it is only fitting, since I do hold a Masters of Public Administration in Nonprofit Management.

This week, I will feature Kansas City Rescue Mission.  This Missions mission is to provide a Christ-centered community offering freedom and hope to the poor and homeless, empowering them to reach their full potential.  KCRM has amazing staff and volunteers.  The men in the transitional living program attend school while receiving assistance with job services and life skills training. Several residents work within the organization in the kitchen area.

I had the honor to volunteer at this organization with my church earlier this year.  We served these gentlemen dinner, and learned their stories.  The thing that amazed my most is, there can be just one event in your life that suddenly renders you homeless.  Take a second and let that sink in.

Currently, the organization is in need of several medical related items due to the heat we have had recently.

These items include:
Advil and Pain Medications
Antibiotic Ointment
Blister cremes
Allergy Medications (Loratadine, Allegra, Zyrtec)

General Personal Care Items:
Reusable Water Bottles
Travel-size Soap and Shampoo
Travel-size shaving cream
Disposable Razors

Turkeys, Ham, Skinless Boneless Chicken, Honey, Milk
#10 cans vegetables
Food Handling Gloves

Items can be dropped of at KCRM’s Main Office at 1520 Cherry, Kansas City, Missouri.  You can learn more about volunteering and donation opportunities on their website at www.kcrm.org.  Reach out and show your support!

XOXO - Tami
