Kansas City Weekend Events

It’s First Friday in Kansas City!  Spend Friday and Saturday at the West Bottoms, shopping in the morning and haunted house hopping at night.  There are a lot of fun fall festivals in and around the city.  Which one will you be attending?


29th Annual Weston Applefest Celebration
Saturday, October 7th @10:00AM - 6:00PM & Sunday the 8th @ 11:00AM - 5:00PM

Downtown Weston is celebrating it’s 29th Annual Applefest!  The parade along Main Street will start at 10:00AM on Saturday, and the celebration will continue through Sunday.  There will be vendor booths, shops, classic cars and live music.  Feast on apple dumplings, apple pies, and cookies.  Kid’s activities include pony rides, face painting, straw bale maze, pumpkin painting and games in the park.

Kansas City Live Block

Celebrate Octoberfest at Kansas City Live Block with contests, games, Wiener Dog races, seasonal beers, food and live entertainment.

Entry is $5 per person.  Registration for Weiner Dog Race is $10.  Beer Lovers Tickets (allowing entry at 2:00PM, a souvenir plastic stein and (5) 16 oz draft beers) and VIP tickets (early entry at Noon, private VIP food spread, (5) 16 oz draft beers, and a private beer tasting from Noon - 2:00PM) are available online.  Adults 21 and over only.

Johnson County Community College

The Greater Kansas City Japan Festival is celebrating it’s 20th year!  Attractions include performances, martial arts presentations, tea ceremony demonstrations, candy artists, cultural presentations and more!  See a full list of attractions on the website.

Tickets can be purchased online, Adults (18+) $15, Students with ID $10, Children 6-12 and 5 & Under are free.

Saturday, October 7th @ 5:00PM-10:00PM
Country Club Plaza, Brush Creek

Enjoy music and dance, live music, and sparkling bonfires along Brush Creek.  Celebrating its 11th year, performers include Quixotic, StoneLion Puppet Theatre, Rhythmic Flames, Kansas City Drum Tribe, Trio Forte and operatic tenor Ben Gulley.  Pop up food and drink stands will be available.  The event is FREE.

Paranormal Trolley Tours, Excelsior Springs
This tour introduces you to the paranormal experiences and stories of Excelsior Springs.  The guided trolley tour includes stops at the Hall of Waters and a ghost tour a The Elms Hotel.  

Tickets are $50 and can be booked online.

Atchison, Kansas Haunted Trolley Tours
Atchison has been names one of the most haunted towns in Kansas.  This one-hour narrated ride introduces you to sites and mysteries of Atchison.  

Tickets are $13, and are available online, bring ID to Santa Fe Depot at 200 S. 10th Street 10 minutes before your tour.
